Love Hurts???? :( (NO, IT SHOULDN'T)

So, as many of you have heard, Chad Johnson a.k.a. Chad Ochocinco, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly (and I say allegedly not because I don't believe it happened but because I was not a first-hand witness) headbutting his wife, Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. Soon afterwards, he was cut from the Miami Dolphins.

Speaking on the situation:
I do not keep up with basketball wives, football wives, real housewives, or any other wives. Personally, I don't see the appeal. With that being said, I know nothing of Evelyn Lozada's personality. Based on what I have heard, she can be a real piece of work. Nevertheless, no matter how cold or crass she may be, she or any other person, does NOT deserve to be assaulted or attacked. Which brings me to my next point:

Facebook's reaction:
Imagine my disgust when I viewed my timeline this morning and read comments from several young men and women saying something along the lines of "I don't condone domestic violence BUT she asked for it." Now of course I'm not using direct quotes (to protect their identities) but this is a basic summary of what was typed. Immediately I was like: HUH?! I couldn't help but be turned off by these responses. Under NO circumstances does a woman (or man, or child) deserve to be assaulted.

I understand that she bullied or assaulted other women too. Does that let her off the hook? OF COURSE NOT!! The proper course of action would have been to press charges against her also (if charges were not filed). You see, we are not Neanderthals. We have evolved to develop language and other means of communication, so clubbing each other over the heads with sticks, bats, guns, knives, belts, fists or any other objects, is TOTALLY barbaric. Are there times when I wish I could "get physical" with someone because they just don't seem to get it? YUP! Do I do it? No. Why not? (See above).

All in all, I really hope we as society continue to evolve AWAY from violence. The whole "violence is not the answer" cliche is more than just a saying. It speaks truth. In the end, we only hurt ourselves.
